Scottlen, a Canadian adventurer and outdoor lover, grew tired of harmful chemicals and plastic waste in everyday personal care, and the challenge of searching for quality products that checked all the boxes. While dealing with his own worries of hair loss, skin and gum issues, his global travels showed him the true impact of our wasteful plastic-covered consumption habits. This sparked a determination to create better alternatives.

Frustrated by poor options, Scottlen taught himself to make clean, effective products. After much studying, trial and error, and years of testing, friends loved them, the products improved, and a dream was born.

Work took him on the road across Canada’s prairies working on wind turbines, sharing his products with those he met along the way at campgrounds and cafes. He even turned his travel trailer into a mobile soap studio so he could continue creating as they hit the open road.

Familiar with Vietnam from past travels—the culture, incredible local and regional ingredients, and great people—he began to build a team, a family of other inspired nature lovers, and the Open Roads Farm project took root. Local sourcing cuts waste, creates jobs, and keeps products close to nature.

Today, we craft every product by hand in Vietnam with love and care, using the best locally and regionally sourced ingredients from small family farms. Through transparent storytelling, we connect customers to the people and process behind each product.
